Hotel Highlights: This quintessential mountain escape, just a few hours north of New York City, Scribner’s Catskills Lodge exudes nostalgic rustic ski lodge charm with a healthy dose of New York cool. The chic alpine white property situated across the road from popular Hunter Mountain ski resort was built in the ’60s and in recent years was given a modern makeover by a trendy Brooklyn design firm transforming into a luxe lodge meets intimate 38-room boutique inn. High-peaked lofted ceilings, skylight windows and plenty of indoor-outdoor spaces honor the property’s mountain surroundings – it’s set on 20 hilly acres and offers easy access to Woodstock, Kaaterskill Falls and the area’s buzzing culinary scene. The chalet-style lobby and lounge room is perfect for relaxing with a pinot by the fire after a long day on the slopes, not that there needs to be snow on the mountains to enjoy this upstate year-round hotspot destination. As for the all-white loft style rooms they are an exercise in sleek Scandi minimalism with sleep lofts, sunken seating, maple floors, local artworks and loomed tapestries and a private deck with Adirondack chairs to enjoy the spectacular view.

Tribe tip: Traveling with your furry friend? Scribner’s a dog-friendly retreat and upon check-in your pup will receive its own bandana and a welcome packet complete with treats, bowls, and all the necessary vacation staples.

Eat + Drink: Scribner’s onsite restaurant Prospect has fast become a foodie haunt in the area.  Helmed by Executive Chef Alex Napolitano, the culinary signature is locally inspired. Dishes are made with produce and ingredients grown in Scribner’s garden and are best described as modern takes on staple dishes designed to warm and nourish on chilly winter nights – think pasture-raised chicken, whipped ricotta toast with spiced plum chutney, handmade pasta (a must!) and seared local trout filet. Be sure to leave room for dessert, Prospect’s goat cheese cheesecake filled with melted caramelized chocolate ganache core over fresh local pears and pear puree finished with shaved chocolate ganache is heavenly. The restaurant offers magical mountain views thanks to floor to ceiling windows and has a large circular bar with cast-iron stoves that opens out onto the cedar deck for outdoor dining or chilling around the fire pit with a crafted cocktail in hand.

Beauty + Wellness: Find your center with scheduled weekend outdoor yoga classes or for a more private experience, enjoy in-room virtual pilates with Helen Phelan Studio. For a breath of fresh mountain air hit the slopes or explore Hunter Valley’s many hiking trails nearby. The white bathrooms with terracotta tiled showers complete with rain heads and invigorating mint-and-rosemary-infused bath products are a sanctuary to revive tired hiking or ski legs. And for a real treat, book a 30-minute session at the property’s private barrel sauna, the backend is made of glass so you can take in the expansive valley scenery as you steam.

Curated Experience: Scribner’s is all about curated, personalized little touches and experiences. There are two fire pits on the property and you’ll receive your own packaged s’more kits to toast on the main deck. The hotel offers lawn games like bocce ball and corn hole and the lobby area is filled with books and board games. The best bit is the hotel has its own custom-made scent, so purchase a Scribner’s candle, diffuser, or body lotion so you can summon your mountain lodge memories when you’re back home.
