After the endless raving from fellow jetsetters about Charleston, South Carolina, we decided to give the city – where cosmopolitan happenings meet southern hospitality – a visit for ourselves this summer. Needless to say, we are completely under its spell. Not that it’s particularly a surprise, how could one not love exploring streets doused in a heavy amount of pink with palm trees dotting the skyline?

A sun-soaked day filled with browsing quaint boutiques and exploring Southern hot spots in “The Most Charming City in America” isn’t complete without stopping by local foodie and wine-lover staple, FIG, for a taste of locally-sourced, seasonal dishes in an unpretentious atmosphere. Don’t leave before delighting your senses in the Mustard Crusted Amberjack, complete with carrots, bordelaise and salsa verde. And for a cocktail… we’ll have the Trapped in Paradise, please.

Checking-in? The Restoration is the perfect balance of residential chic and urban panache. Nestled between Museum Mile and King Street’s shopping district, the hotel is ideal for exploring the city by foot. Thanks to a recent multi-million-dollar renovation, the property features five buildings that effortlessly capture the rich history and easy-going atmosphere of the city while still providing stellar amenities with some serious ‘design inspo’ décor. While The Restoration has endless things to boast – the street side coffee shop, dapper menswear boutique, cultural library and serene spa – our favorite place to take in Charleston’s sweeping city views is perched atop the roof at the Indigo Pool with a signature cocktail in hand. We are equally impressed with the staff’s effort to create an experience as memorable as the atmosphere… and the complimentary wine and cheese pairings offered in the lobby every evening doesn’t hurt either.

After just one weekend at The Restoration, Charleston already feels like an old friend (albeit a very stylish one) and we are already planning our next trip back.
