Instagram Spot: Painted Ladies

@sy.wendy

“I lived in San Francisco when I was a kid and distinctly remember the postcard-perfect buildings on Steiner Street. “I took this snapshot of the ‘Painted Ladies’ as they are known, during a trip back there in 2015. Looking at it makes me want to explore Alamo Square all over again — even just the sight of the pastel-colored Victorian houses (and photo ops!) are worth traveling for. If you’re a fan of Full House like me, you’ll probably recognize that this landmark makes an appearance in the opening credits. But they are even better in real life.”

Instagram Spot: Crissy Field

@abadibody

“One of my favorite places in San Francisco to hang out with friends or enjoy some quiet time is Crissy Field, scenic winding trails between Marina Green and Fort Point that are perfect to hike or bike. You always have a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge, mountains, and ocean. This picture was taken on my birthday in April 2021, the winds were strong and it was foggy but it still looks beautiful!”

Instagram Spot: Baker Beach

@eastcoastcontessa

“I took this photo on a cold, sunny December at peak golden hour. It was my first time in the ‘City By the Bay’, my first time in California actually. The sun’s golden hues caused rays of light to shine off the bridge’s rugged steel beams, and to me that sums up travel, noticing and appreciating the little things and natural beauty of the world. It was at that moment I made the decision to quit my office job and travel full time. The Golden Gate Bridge is a marvel of modern architecture, a must-see when visiting SF, and will always be that special place that inspired me to explore more of the world.”

Instagram Spot: Chinatown

@iamcurtdelia

“The views and photography locations in SF are endless but one place that always catches my eye is its iconic Chinatown. The streets are lined with herbalists, bakeries, souvenir shops, and red lanterns symbolizing wealth, good health, and prosperity. If you have the time, hit the local bakeries to taste their handmade goods. The best.”

Instagram Spot: Umbrella Alley

@sarowly

“Why is it called Umbrella Alley if there are balloons? I don’t know but it is just so cute. Located at the west end of Fisherman’s Wharf, this alley is the perfect spot for taking Instagram photos along the interactive murals created by local artists. Definitely check this place out.”

Instagram Spot: Golden Gate Bridge

@samhorine

“San Francisco is the perfect muse when it comes to photography. One could wander for hours through any of her many neighborhoods, capturing the restored mansions of The Haight, the quirky architecture of The Mission, or the characters on the streets of The Tenderloin. Then there’s the star of the show, the Golden Gate Bridge. With all of the hills, the iconic bridge is viewable from many vantage points, though my favorite is from The Presidio, an oversized park on the northern tip of the city. With miles of trails and ocean views, it’s a personal favorite to spend an afternoon taking in the sights and sounds of SF.”

Instagram Spot: Lombard Street

@fel_photography_

“This was taken during my first trip to San Francisco to see my best friends. I wanted to explore the city and we ended up on the city’s iconic Lombard Street, which is so quirky and unique. So, I flew my drone to look at the upper view and I was really amazed by what I saw, a brick road winding downward for one block through houses and florals.”

Instagram Spot: Secret Tiled Staircases

@humminglion

“San Francisco is full of funky, tiled stairways that are hidden from plain sight. Here are some of my favorites that just had to be snapped for the gram.”

Instagram Spot: Pier 39

@traveltoblank

“We took this photo as we were heading to the Aquarium. You cannot leave San Francisco without seeing the iconic sea lions that live at Pier 39, lounging on the docks. In summer you may spot as many as 900 sea lions swimming and laying around. It’s a perfect spot to get some of the most Instagrammable shots of SF.”
