Why it’s worth traveling for…

Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, and offset by sand dunes and sea oats, The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island (designed in a U-shape to resemble a sandcastle) is known for its unspoiled coastal beauty. Located on Amelia Island, the southernmost part of the Sea Islands chain, the ambiance here — live oak trees dripping in Spanish moss, Gopher tortoises lumbering across flower-laden dunes, shrimp boats, and 13 miles of pristine beach — feels more like Georgia than Florida. Opened in 1991 as the first (and only) luxury property on the island, The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island, designated with two AAA Five Diamonds,  continues to wow with its chic coastal decor, stunning rooms with private balconies and sea views, and Michelin-trained chef. Rise early to take in the spectacular sunrise, cruise on one of the complimentary bikes along lush island trails, play a round of golf, slip into the spa, have a drink at the toe-in-the-sand Dune Bar, or simply relax under sky-blue umbrellas on the pristine beach.
