An exhibit worth traveling for…
With its art-driven culture and diverse personality, a visit back to Melbourne is always inspiring. In addition to the city’s solid fashion pull, its vibrant laneways, rooftop bars and award-winning cafes make Melbourne a must-see for living your most fashionable and cultured life. This fall, the National Gallery of Victoria gives us yet another reason to visit Victoria with the opening of The House of Dior: Seventy Years of Haute Couture, a never-before-seen exhibit celebrating the 70th anniversary of one of the world’s most prestigious couture houses. The National Gallery of Victoria has us swooning over Dior with this glamorous retrospective that narrates the rich history of the fashion house, including Christian Dior’s early influences, examples from the iconic spring 1947 New Look collection, magnificent displays of Dior’s signature ball gowns and evening dresses, as well as designs from the inaugural couture collection of the House’s first female head designer, Maria Grazia Chiuri.
After visiting the National Gallery of Victoria (open through November 7th), spend the day taking in all that Melbourne has to offer. The originators of the avocado toast and latte art, every cafe holds the promise of a delicious meal and a heart-warming cup of coffee. Spend the rest of your day exploring Melbourne’s bohemian boutiques, scouting for street art masterpieces, or in awe of Readings, the best book store in the world. For dinner, we recommend dining at IGNI.
