As the temperature continues to drop and the holiday season comes to a halt, there’s only one thing that could get us excited about leaving the warmth and comfort of our home: a fabulous meal. While there’s no shortage of amazing restaurants in New York City, these five hotspots have certainly piqued our interest enough to have us rethinking about ordering takeout for the third time this week.

Mercado Little Spain – Hudson Yards

Curated by famed chef Jose Andres, this Husdon Yard’s market offers the best of Spanish cuisine. Get lost in Spanish culture and hop around the different kiosks for a tapas-style experience or settle in for the day and order up some delicious fare at one of the vibrant dining destinations. From sugar-crusted churros to salty jamon, Mercado Little Spain’s perfect ambiance and eats are enough to give you the illusion that you’re vacationing in warm España.

Cocoron – Lower East Side

Nothing says the middle of winter quite like a warm bowl of soup and noodles do, and Cocoron is serving up some sensational soba. The more low-key (but equally tasty) cousin of ramen, soba noodles are prepared to perfection at this Lower East Side shop and served with a hotpot of delicious soup/sauce to dip in – how fun is that? Next time you’re in the mood for ramen, we highly suggest you check out the soba craze and head over to Cocoron for a delectable experience.

Rubirosa – Nolita

Good pizza might seem easily attainable in New York City, but there’s only one place that serves a vodka pizza that could quite possibly leave you in happy tearsWhile certainly not a newcomer to the restaurant scene, there is something about Rubirosa that never gets old. Maybe it’s the incredibly fresh ingredients and large variety of spectacular dishes, or maybe it’s the snug ambiance – either way, we highly recommend checking this place out.

*Bonus: their gluten-free menu is just as extensive, and delicious, as their regular menu!

Carbone – Greenwich Village

As if one Italian restaurant on our list wasn’t enough…Carbone in Greenwich Village is the literal live theater interpretation of all the great “red-sauce Italian restaurants” you’ve seen in the movies (and one of the most coveted reservations in NYC). While the entertainment factor of Carbone might intrigue you to come, the food is what’s going to get you to stay. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but if you go to Carbone and don’t get the spicy rigatoni with vodka sauce, well, you did it wrong.

Red Hook Tavern – Brooklyn

Make your way down to the Brooklyn waterfront and get cozy in this classic warm, wood-accented restaurant. Red Hook Tavern boasts a simple, yet excellent, selection of 20 menu items to help make your decision that much easier. Just do yourself a favor and try the burger…trust us on this one.
