A different kind of island time.

Oh Nantucket, the charming island of East Coast prepsters, Jeep wranglers, and beach cruisers. It doesn’t get more American than this when it comes to the best places to spend Fourth of July. Bike riding through downtown, sunbathing on Jetties Beach, and indulging in buttery lobster rolls and homemade ice cream are just a few ways to enjoy the island local style.TRIP:

The White Elephant Hotel is a no brainer if your usual preference is the Four Seasons or the Ritz. Its upscale 1920’s cottage style with grey shingles and hydrangeas will give you that iconic Nantucket feel with prime waterfront harbor views. Lay out on chaise lounge chairs while watching boats go by from the harborside lawn or grab a bite at the hotel’s Brant Point Grill.

21 Broad, a chic boutique hotel in the heart of downtown Nantucket is perfect for the savvy traveler who wants to be in the center of it all. Picture bright interiors, a trendy outdoor deck with a fire-pit, and a complimentary breakfast assortment with homemade scones in the morning. Ideal for millennial’s, 21 Broad guests are handed a complimentary iPad at check in, and they have the chance to participate in the hotel’s Instagram Scavenger Hunt, where guests visit and post pictures in front of must see destinations around the island using the hashtag #onalark for the chance to win prizes.

For being a smaller island in the food chain, Nantucket does not come up short when it comes to dining. From a quick bite on the way to the beach or a bougie waterfront dinner, Nantucket has it all. And don’t forget about one of Nantucket’s staple food groups—ICE CREAM!

Two words: Rosé and yachts. If that’s up your alley, then add CRU Oyster Bar to your list. This waterfront restaurant has great seafood and even better people watching. If you want to have a drink by the water, a little seaside breeze, and a Blue Crab Cocktail, since shrimp is just too basic for this crowd, then CRU is for you. #CRUshingit #shuckingamazing

Galley Beach is another upscale beachfront restaurant a little off the beaten path, except here you can actually stick your toes in the sand while sitting at one of their outdoor tables on the beach. Watch the sunset with a cocktail in one hand and a lobster tail in the other at this posh spot.

On the way to the beach grab a BLT sandwich on fresh baked bread and a homemade chocolate chip cookie from the local favorite, Something Natural. And of course, you can’t leave Nantucket without visiting The Juice Bar. Don’t let the name fool you though, this is not the place to start a cleanse! Prepare to stand in line, sometimes even down the block, for the best homemade ice cream in town. The Green Monster is a must have—and no, it’s not green because of kale—it’s mint ice cream with an unexpected twist—cookie dough!Juice BarTONE:

If you feel like getting active after laying out at the beach, head to Studio Nantucket for a Barre or Pilates class to get your sculpt on. Or, if you’re in need of some Namaste, The Yoga Room is a very private and serene studio with a variety of classes ranging from Vinyasa Flow to Heated Core in a lush garden setting.

WTF:

Brant Point Lighthouse

What may be a cute afterthought to many who have passed it by, the Brant Point Light has some lengthy history being the second lighthouse established in colonial America, earning it a spot on the National Register of Historic Places. The original lighthouse was constructed in 1746, and seven tower reconstructions and ten lantern replacements later, the lighthouse still stands today.  Brant Point Light Station sits at the water’s edge on the north side of Nantucket Island and the grounds are open to public.

Cisco Brewers

If you want a fun educational experience, check out Cisco Brewers for a tour of their winery, brewery and distillery. But, let’s be honest, everyone really goes for the samples, which include two wines from Nantucket Vineyard, two beers from Cisco Brewery and two spirits from Triple Eight Distillery. Stick around for some live music, food trucks, and tasting flights and call it a day!
