Worth Traveling For
The JW Marriott Hotel Tokyo opened in October 2025, joining a vibrant hospitality landscape within the city that includes an outpost from almost every major luxury brand. What stands apart first and foremost for the JW is its location in Takanawa Gateway City. It’s as close to Tokyo’s Haneda airport as you can be while still resting your head in the city proper, and the hotel is directly connected to the development’s namesake station, with easy access around town via the Yamanote line.
There’s also an adjoining modern mall in the same complex. You can exit the hotel and stroll straight into its multi-story space that showcases a number of trendy Japanese clothing and home brands. Be sure to stop into the Super Raw food court, which includes a craft beer bar and an outpost of popular chain Afuri ramen. Convenience, therefore, is the name of the game at the JW Marriott Hotel Tokyo. A strong food and beverage lineup, along with a deep focus on wellness, are also key aspects of a stay here.
Hotel Highlights

The hotel was designed by Yabu Pushelberg and features a zen-inspired, contemporary minimalist aesthetic. Rooms showcase dark stone walls and natural wood floors, Kamakura-style cloud carvings, and ceramic art pieces by Tomonari Hashimoto. Bathrooms make use of a large combined wet area with a standalone white soaking tub and rainfall shower head. Upgrade to a suite and you’ll also get Executive Lounge access.
The brand’s first JW Mindfulness Floor debuted in Tokyo. The dedicated floor is home to the Spa by JW, an indoor pool and jacuzzi in a large atrium space with great views of the city, a fitness center with a separate, small movement studio, and ongoing wellness programming. More than that though, the floor features nine designated Mindful rooms and suites that include a special array of amenities.

Culinary offerings include Kako, where Japan’s seasonal bounty is paired with sake from 46 different prefectures, and Sefino, a Mediterranean restaurant from chef Agustin Balbi. The star, though, is Saki, a 10-seat omakase counter blending French techniques with Japanese ingredients. Expect dishes such as chawanmushi and a signature torotaku temaki handroll among a dozen courses, and be sure to splurge for the sake pairing. Then perhaps grab a nightcap at the JW Bar, and order a Vesper martini riff made with sencha, or a beef fat-washed Old Fashioned incorporating hojicha syrup.
Rooms & Experience
Upon entering the hotel from its showy 30th floor lobby, you may be greeted by a buzzy scene, with groups enjoying afternoon tea service or stopping for a pastry from Le Cres. Fellow guests range from western business travelers to young Japanese couples looking for a stylish staycation.

Look out for fun features including comfortable pajamas, tea sets, the lavender pillow spray provided during turndown service, and an exclusive JW branded sake available from the minibar. You have everything you need for a cozy night in, especially when you add in the Japanese fare available via room service, such as soba and udon, pork katsu, sashimi, and donburi bowls.
What to Know Before You Book
Keep your eyes open for special drinks pop-ups, such as a dedicated display of the renowned Hibiki whisky, in the semi-hidden 4-0-3 lounge that’s adjacent to the JW Bar.

As for those Mindful rooms, you’ll enjoy a tranquil experience that begins right from the start with private check-in at the spa lounge. Inside your sanctuary, take advantage of a curated trio of herbal teas from Art of Tea, Aromatherapy Associates bath oils and ISUN body care products, a bespoke journal, and wireless speakers with pre-loaded meditation playlists. Not to mention oversized, wavy L-shaped bathtubs with separate sitting nooks for two.
