Heading to a secluded, cozy cabin not only makes for a unique, romantic experience. It also provides a much-needed change of scenery and platform for immersing into new cities and cultures.  Here are 20 of our favorite Airbnb cabins around the world.

Million Dollar Views, Colorado

Cabins don’t have to mean rustic. In the case of Colorado’s Million Dollar Views, the vibe is more like retro mountainside luxury. Set just outside Purgatory Resort, this Colorado cabin is perfect for winter and summer escapes. Make the most of the lake, forest, and mountain vistas with the floor-to-ceiling windows, those million-dollar views are no exaggeration. The cabin features a well-equipped kitchen, laundry room, and spacious bathrooms so you can get away from it all without sacrificing comfort or convenience. Another highlight is the hot tub. It’s hard not to imagine any tensions melting away as you take in the golden fall hues, dappled sunshine, or snow-covered mountain sides from your very own jacuzzi with a glass of champagne or mug of hot chocolate.

The Private Treehouse, Japan

Japan is one of the most incredibly diverse countries on earth. In Okinawa, a large tropical island located in the China Sea between the Japanese mainland and Taiwan, you’ll find The Private Treehouse, a hidden gem high up in the treetops, surrounded by spectacular beaches and greenery. The cabin has an enormous tree trunk in its center, and its minimalistic aesthetic which favors soft neutrals and natural woods (as is the Japanese way) is an exercise in Zen.  The perfect place to relax and recharge while enjoying panoramic views of the turquoise seas and small islands dotted around the ocean, the treehouse has an expansive deck complete with a grill for al fresco dining. You’re also plenty of beaches and ports nearby where you can duck in and out of tiny stores, go for a swim or snorkel, or simply wiggle your toes in the sand and listen to the sound of the waves.

Chalet Amazon Creek, Switzerland

If “cabin” has you conjuring up images of roaring fires, snow-capped peaks, and elegant apres ski celebrations, Chalet Amazon Creek, Switzerland in the Swiss Alps is perfect. Cozy and bursting with rustic charm the cabin features wooden walls, stone detailing, and luxe alpine décor with soft reds, oranges, and gray accents. Sprawl out on the couch, soak in the hot tub, or settle down for a movie in the entertainment room after a long day skiing or exploring nearby Mont Blanc. That is after you’ve finished a heartwarming dinner prepared by your own private chef.

Secret Cove Treehouse on a Cliff, British Colombia

A romantic escape in a cozy cabin is the perfect way to welcome fall in BC. This area is famed for its natural beauty, and the treehouse-style cabins at Secret Cove Treehouse on a Cliff, British Columbia look as if they were plucked straight from a postcard. The best way to enjoy the views of the river and greenery is from the hot tub hanging over the water, or by kayak if you’re feeling adventurous. That said, this is also the perfect place to hunker down, light a fire and enjoy a good book. There’s no way you won’t leave here feeling content, recharged, and at one with nature.

Hobbit House at Deer Run, Virginia

When you see pictures of Hobbit House at Deer Run you’d be forgiven for thinking you’d stepped onto the set of The Hobbit. But rather than New Zealand, you’ll find this glorious “hobbit house” in Shenandoah, Virginia. If Frodo could have spent his days on the private porch with a hot tub, chilling with a glass of wine next to the fire and listening to the epic surround sound system while cooking up a feast on the outdoor grill, we’re pretty sure he would never have returned to The Shire. We know he also would have loved exploring the nearby Shenandoah Valley, home to hot air ballooning, art galleries, petting zoos, and even a Dukes of Hazzard museum, we’re sure he’d have found his true nirvana.

Solitude, Patagonia

Patagonia has our vote as a contender for the most beautiful place on earth. Home to jagged cliffs, towering snowy peaks, and lakes in otherworldly hues of greens and blues, it’s one of the world’s last great wildernesses. And nowhere is better to experience its epic beauty and tranquility than Solitude, an isolated cabin located in a quiet enclave of the Chilean Lake District of Northern Patagonia nestled in the Andes mountains, at the edge of the Calcurrupe river and surrounded by the Valdivian temperate rainforest. Set on 32 acres, the two-bed cabin has floor-to-ceiling windows to showcase the stunning river views (there’s also a private beach), a full kitchen, and a terrace.
