Inspired by the incomparable French composer Claude Debussy, who himself found inspiration in Impressionism and Modernism at the turn of the 20th century, Riverside Luxury Cruises introduced its newest ship in 2024: Riverside Debussy. Like the composer, Riverside Debussy effortlessly blends style and sophistication with a dash of je ne sais quois to deliver what can only be considered an elegant luxury resort on water.
Awash in jewel tones, Riverside Debussy’s exquisite décor transforms the sense of opulence and tranquility Debussy created in his masterpieces “La Mer” and “Clair de Lune” and brings them to life in elegantly comfortable vignettes, both in its sweeping yet intimate public spaces and generously and luxuriously appointed suites.
Each of Riverside Debussy’s 55 suites, spread across six categories and the middle and upper decks, is appointed with sumptuous fabrics and materials, like soft leathers and rich velvets; king-size beds; panorama windows that slide to create in-room balconies; and attentive butler service to personalize every aspect of guests’ voyages. All of the suites are spacious with ample storage space, with the Owner’s Suite the largest of all at 750 square feet with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, and a living room in which to sit fireside and read a book, or enjoy private dining.
With a maximum of just 110 passengers onboard, public spaces never feel crowded and provide comfortable spaces to relax and enjoy. The glass-roofed Palm Court Lounge is the place for evening cocktails and entertainment, and panoramic sailing, which can also be enjoyed from the Vista Upper Deck. A well-appointed gym keeps any exercise routine on track, and an indoor pool and masseuse are ready to lull guests back into relaxation. Or, guests can roll out yoga mats on the Vista Upper Deck and practice en plein air.
When it comes to dining, Riverside Debussy’s culinary programs elevate the onboard experience from breakfast to lunch and dinner, with plenty of bites in between; flavors are inspired by the regions through which the ship is sailing. Choose the Vintage Room with its Michelin star-level creations and service for an intimate dinner for two, or a gathering of up to 10. Everything from the bread to pasta and gelato is prepared by the onboard culinary team, with a wine list that rivals those found in the world’s leading restaurants.
Sailing along the Rhine River, Riverside Debussy’s 10 major ports of call weave together the charm of the composer’s works with the allure of river cruising and a symphony of choice when it comes to recreation off the ship. Iconic destinations found along the Rhine include Amsterdam with its meandering canals, historic streets, and vibrant cultural scene; Brussels, with its art and culinary delights; Cologne, known for its iconic gabled houses and lively Old Market; Düsseldorf and its trendy Medienhafen quarter; Ghent, where the medieval Grafenburg, or “Count’s Castle,” adds an air of mystery; the youthful vibe of Mannheim that combines a unique blend of history and contemporary life; Rotterdam, with its mix of historic landmarks and modern architecture; and Strasbourg, an enchanting destination that surprises and delights visitors of all ages. Over on the Danube, Maastricht is home to an array of interesting and engaging Dutch heritage sites.
Riverside Debussy sets sail on its inaugural season in 2024 with a variety of five- to seven-night itineraries, including the five-night Cruising Belgium And The Netherlands, and the seven-night Holland At The Heart Of Tulip Blossom itineraries in the spring.
