In the world of hospitality, artist-in-residence programs provide a haven of creativity and an opportunity to see masterpieces within the walls of our some of our favorite destinations. Explore our curated list of some of our favorite artist-in-residence programs around the nation.

Ace Hotel New York

Known for its boutique hotel charm, and downtown New York City allure, the Ace Hotel is the perfect spot to get creative. In addition to the collective of creatives who flock to the Lobby Bar to work remotely, the hotel has its own Artist-in-Residence program, where creators are invited to spend the night at the hotel working on their craft and unveil their artworks in the morning.

The Pfister Hotel

A true Milwaukee landmark, The Pfister Hotel has proudly woven its passion for art and culture into the mission of the property. It is home to the largest Victorian art collection of any hotel in the world and The Pfister runs an internationally recognized artist-in-residence program. Open to the public, the program features a working studio and gallery, encouraging visitors to watch and interact with the featured artist. Artists-in-residence get to showcase their work for two months at the on-site installation, and one of their legacy pieces is permanently displayed at the hotel.

Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Bungalows

Known for its amazing spas, stunning desert location, and mid-century design aesthetic, Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Bungalows is the perfect destination to immerse yourself in the local art scene. In partnership with Cattle Track Art Compound, a community of local artists, the hotel offers an artist-in-residence onsite workshop that allows guests to take part in classes and other interactive events.

The Vendue

An artistic haven littered with original artworks, The Vendue is home to Charleston’s only artist-in-residence program. Every year, The Vendue showcases regular curated art exhibitions where guests can meet the hotel’s resident artist in their working studio and engage in daily tours led by the program’s full-time art docent.

Freehand Hotel New York

In partnership with Bard College, New York’s Freehand Hotel invited 15 Bard students and alumni to design an original artwork to be displayed at the hotel. The result is an impressive showcase of hand-painted murals, sculptures, and framed pieces in every guest room and public space. This led to the establishment of a multi-disciplinary artist-in-residence program where select artists are awarded a paid, year-long fellowship, living at the hotel and exhibiting their work throughout.
