The Succession and Pride & Prejudice star joins Tanya Rose to share the places, meals, hotels, and experiences he still thinks about — plus a few lessons picked up from a lifetime spent traveling.
His number-one recommendation is wonderfully specific: the terracotta sculptures depicting the Lamentation of Christ inside Bologna’s Santa Maria della Vita, followed by ragù or tortellini nearby. He talks about filming Succession in a virtually tourist-free Florence, family ski trips to Switzerland, childhood meals in Indonesia, and why a really good guide is always worth it. His packing advice is simple: bring less. His own wife, actress Keeley Hawes, apparently has yet to embrace that philosophy when it comes to shoes.
And then there’s the important stuff: why Disney surprised him, the Succession yacht that ruined ordinary boating forever, and the cowboy boots he wisely did not buy in Santa Fe after Hawes asked if he wanted to stay married.
