Capri’s natural beauty and glamorous history have influenced the bucket lists of many travelers as well as iconic fashion brands, including Dolce and Gabbana (nod to their 2024 Capri collection) and Emilio Pucci. Elegance echoes throughout the island, and it’s undeniably desirable. Every street you walk down becomes its own experience with a permanent place in your feed.

Travel Curator (TC): What’s the one restaurant on Capri that’s actually worth the hype — and is there a specific table I should request for the best view or privacy

Marion Taborda: Da Paolino is super popular, but we still think it’s worth it – there’s nothing like dining under those lemon trees. Ask for a table in the back if you want a quieter setting. Le Grottelle is also a great low-key option with cliffside views and fewer people.

TC: Which hotel on the island do you consider the place to stay — and which exact room or suite has the best terrace, light, or view of the Faraglioni?

Taborda: JK Place Capri is one of our top picks — it’s understated, beautifully designed, and the service is always spot-on. It’s tucked away just enough to feel peaceful, but still super convenient to get around. I usually suggest one of their deluxe sea view rooms with a terrace — the light in the morning is gorgeous, and the views are exactly what you hope for on Capri. For a more traditional Capri feel, Hotel Punta Tragara is another great option. It has that old-school glamour, perched right above the Faraglioni, and many of the rooms have dramatic views and private terraces. It’s a bit more iconic Capri, in the best way.

TC: Is there a boutique, atelier, or sandal shop you send clients to that’s still family-run and worth the splurge?

Taborda: Canfora Sandals is a Capri institution — Jackie O wore them, and the family still runs the shop today. Each pair is custom-made in-store and can be personalized, so the experience itself is part of the charm.

TC: What’s your must-book experience that travelers always thank you for — a boat day, private beach club, or something off the beaten (and Instagrammed) path?

Taborda: A private boat day around the island — especially with an early start to beat the crowds. We usually include a stop at the Green Grotto for a swim and anchor near the Faraglioni for a light lunch onboard. It always ends up being the highlight.

TC: Which beach club is worth spending the full day at — and do I need to book a specific lounger, lunch table, or arrival time?

Taborda: La Fontelina is a classic choice, but positioning matters. I recommend booking the loungers at the far left end (closest to the rocks) – they’re more private, away from the crowds, and ideal for photos. Also, book the second lunch seating around 2:30 p.m. to avoid the peak heat and enjoy a slower vibe.

TC: Are there any hotels or private guides that offer early or after-hours access to iconic sites like Villa Jovis, Monte Solaro, or the Blue Grotto?

Taborda: We work with guides who can arrange private access to Villa Jovis in the evening, which feels really special and peaceful. Some hotels, like Caesar Augustus, also help us set up sunset access to Monte Solaro with a guide, which avoids the daytime crowds and gives you incredible views.

TC: What’s your favorite way to get around the island without feeling stuck in traffic, crowds, or chaos — and are there any walking routes with jaw-dropping views most people miss?

Taborda: Capri is more walkable than most people expect. I always recommend walking between Villa Lysis and Tragara Point — it’s scenic, quiet, and shows a totally different side of the island. You can skip the funicular if it’s packed and have your luggage handled by porters, which makes everything easier.
